Privacy Policy
Effective: May 19, 2026 · Last updated: May 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Reddy ("Reddy", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Reddy mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").
Reddy is a marketplace that connects skilled-trades professionals in British Columbia, Canada with clients who want to hire them. By using the Service you agree to the practices described below.
1. Who we are
Reddy is operated from British Columbia, Canada. We are the controller of personal information collected through the Service.
Privacy contact: Reddybcinfo@gmail.com
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
- Account details. When you sign up we collect your phone number (used for one-time-passcode sign-in) and a display name. You may optionally add an email address and a profile photo.
- Pro account details. If you create a Pro profile we collect your trade, your certification status (Red Seal, Journeyperson, or Apprentice), and — if you submit yourself for Red Seal verification — your legal name and SkilledTradesBC certificate number. You may also provide a bio, your hourly-rate range, a home base location, a service radius, portfolio photos, a resume of past employment and notable projects (role or project title, organization, dates, and an optional description), and your default materials-supply preference for jobs.
- Client account details. If you create a Client profile we collect whether you are a homeowner or contractor, and (for contractors) optionally a company name and BC contractor licence number.
- Postings. When you post a job or gig we collect the title, description, trade, required level, location (city plus a precise point you choose), an optional street address (kept private and not displayed publicly), budget, duration, urgency, your materials-supply preference for that job, and any photos you attach.
- Messages. We store the messages and attachments you send to other users through the in-app chat.
- Reviews and ratings. We store the star ratings and written reviews you leave for other users after a job, and the reviews left for you.
- Support requests. If you email us we keep the contents of your message so we can respond.
- Purchase records. If you buy the "Remove ads" in-app purchase we receive a Google Play purchase token from Google Play Billing and store it against your account so we can keep your premium status and answer support questions about the purchase.
- Safety actions. When you block another Reddy user or report content (a posting, another user, a specific message, or a conversation), we record who took the action, what was acted on, the reason category you chose, and any free-text details you add. We use this information to enforce our Terms (see sections 3 and 4.5).
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device location. If you grant the location permission, the app uses your device location to (a) show postings near you, and (b) let you drop a pin for your job site or service area. Precise location is sent to our backend only when you take an action that needs it. We do not track your location in the background.
- Usage and diagnostic data. Standard request metadata such as the time of a request and a coarse error log so we can keep the Service running.
- Push tokens. If you enable push notifications we store the Expo push token issued to your device so we can send you notifications about messages and matches.
- Advertising identifier and ad-serving signals. When you see banner advertisements in Reddy, our advertising partner Google AdMob receives your device's advertising ID, approximate location (derived from your IP), device type, language, app version, and limited interaction signals (ad impressions, taps) so it can choose which ads to show and measure their performance. See section 4.2 for more on AdMob.
2.3 Information we do not collect
We do not collect government-issued ID, payment card numbers (Google Play Billing handles these — we never see them), health information, contacts lists, photos library beyond what you explicitly upload, microphone audio, or precise background location.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- create and operate your account, including phone-OTP sign-in;
- show postings, Pros, and Clients near you;
- verify Red Seal status by submitting your legal name and certificate number to the public SkilledTradesBC registry (see section 4);
- deliver in-app messages, push notifications, and reviews;
- display banner advertising and process in-app purchases that remove those ads;
- prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms;
- review reports of inappropriate content or behaviour and take moderation actions — such as hiding a posting from the feed or suspending an account — when the content or behaviour violates our Terms;
- respond to your support requests; and
- comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. How we share your information
We share information only as described below.
4.1 With other Reddy users
Your display name, profile photo, active mode (Pro/Client), trade, verification badge, hourly-rate range, bio, portfolio photos, star rating, review count, posting contents, posting location (city and the point you chose, not the private street address), and the messages you send are visible to the users you interact with on the Service.
4.2 With Google AdMob (our advertising partner)
Reddy is free to use and displays banner ads provided by Google AdMob, a Google service. AdMob receives the following from your device when an ad is requested or interacted with:
- your device's advertising ID (a resettable identifier Android assigns for ad personalization);
- approximate location (derived from your IP, not your GPS);
- device type, operating system version, language, time zone;
- the app identifier (
ca.reddybc.app) and ad placement; - whether you viewed or tapped an ad.
Google AdMob uses this information to choose which ads to show you, measure ad performance, and (subject to your device settings) personalize advertising across apps and the web. Google's own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy describes how Google handles this data.
You can control this:
- Reset your advertising ID at any time: Android Settings → Privacy → Ads → "Reset advertising ID".
- Opt out of Ads Personalization at the device level: Android Settings → Privacy → Ads → "Opt out of Ads Personalization". When this is enabled, AdMob still serves ads but they are not personalized.
- Buy "Remove ads" in Reddy (Profile → Edit → Remove ads). After purchase, no ad requests are sent and AdMob no longer receives any data from Reddy on your device.
4.3 With service providers we use to run Reddy
- Supabase — database and authentication hosting (data stored in us-west-1, United States).
- Twilio — sends the SMS one-time-passcode to your phone for sign-in.
- Expo — delivers push notifications.
- Cloudflare — hosts this website.
- Google Play Billing — processes in-app purchases (the "Remove ads" lifetime upgrade).
These providers process information only on our instructions and under written agreements that require them to protect it.
4.4 With SkilledTradesBC (for Red Seal verification only)
When you submit yourself for Red Seal verification, we send your legal name and certificate number to the public SkilledTradesBC online registry at skilledtradesbc.ca to confirm that the certificate is valid and active. SkilledTradesBC is operated by the Government of British Columbia. We store the result of that lookup.
4.5 With Reddy moderators
A small number of Reddy team members designated as moderators have elevated access to investigate user reports and enforce our Terms. When you file a report, or when content you posted is reported, our moderators can view the reported posting, the messages in a reported conversation, the profile of a user who has been reported or repeatedly blocked, and the history of actions taken on that account. Moderators are bound to confidentiality and only access what is necessary to triage the report. Moderation actions include hiding a posting from the feed, suspending an account, and recording the outcome of the review.
4.6 For legal reasons
We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is necessary to comply with a law, court order, or lawful request, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Reddy, our users, or the public.
4.7 In a business transfer
If Reddy is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Where your information is stored
Reddy's databases are hosted by Supabase in the United States (us-west-1 region). Google AdMob and Google Play Billing process data on Google infrastructure globally. Some of our other service providers may process information in other countries. By using the Service you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own.
6. How long we keep your information
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (see section 9) we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to keep it longer for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes. Messages you sent remain visible to the other participant in the conversation, but with your name and photo replaced by "Deleted user".
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including TLS in transit, encryption at rest, row-level security policies in our database, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information we will notify you and applicable regulators as required by law.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under British Columbia's PIPA and Canada's PIPEDA), you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your account and the personal information associated with it;
- withdraw consent for processing where consent is the basis;
- complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca) or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
To exercise these rights, email Reddybcinfo@gmail.com.
9. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time:
- In the app: open your Profile, tap Edit, then Delete account.
- From the web: reddybc.ca/delete-account
Deletion is permanent. We will remove your profile, postings, portfolio photos, push token, in-app purchase records, and verification record within 30 days. Messages you sent will remain visible to the other participant in the conversation with your name and photo replaced by "Deleted user". Reviews you posted about other users will remain but be attributed to "Deleted user". Aggregated and de-identified data may be retained.
10. Children
Reddy is not intended for anyone under the age of majority in their province or territory of residence (19 in British Columbia). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at Reddybcinfo@gmail.com and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised.
